Senior HR Advisor (People & Culture)
At Mama Cash, we believe lasting social change starts with people. That is why we are looking for a Senior HR Advisor (People & Culture) who brings people together, builds trust and helps strengthen an inclusive, international organisation. Based in Amsterdam, you will work together with an international team to create a working environment where everyone feels seen, heard and valued. People & Culture plays a vital role in making that happen.
About Mama Cash
Mama Cash is an international feminist fund that supports social movements around the world working to advance the rights of women, girls, trans people and intersex people. Together with our partners across the globe, we work towards a more just and equitable world. Our organisation is international, diverse and deeply committed to our mission. Around half of our colleagues are based in the Netherlands, while the other half work remotely from countries around the world. Once a year, we come together in person to connect, learn from one another and shape our shared direction. Trust, collaboration and shared leadership are at the core of how we work. We believe that different perspectives lead to better decisions. That is why we listen first, ask questions and work together to find solutions.
Your role
As our Senior HR Advisor, you will play a key role in the further development of HR while contributing to the continued development of our organisation. You will be the primary point of contact for People & Culture and help create a workplace where people can grow, thrive and enjoy working together. You will help build a future-proof HR function and act as a strong strategic sparring partner to managers and senior leadership.
Together with the Junior HR Officer, you will form the People & Culture team at Mama Cash. You will contribute to the further professionalisation of HR and help build a strong, future-proof HR team, while strengthening the position of HR across the organisation. You will take the lead on more complex HR matters, while your colleague focuses on HR administration and operational support. As a trusted advisor, you will participate in Management Team meetings where relevant to provide strategic advice on people, organisational development and culture. You will help the organisation continue to evolve while strengthening and safeguarding the culture of trust, shared leadership and inclusion that defines Mama Cash.
An international HR role
What makes this role unique is its international context. Working in this environment means navigating different cultures, employment legislation and organisational interests. For our international employment arrangements, Mama Cash partners with an Employer of Record. You will manage this partnership and ensure colleagues around the world receive professional and reliable HR support.
What will you be doing?
No two days are the same. One day you will advise managers on complex employee relations matters, while the next you may be developing HR policies or contributing to organisational development initiatives. You will guide change processes, support talent development and further professionalise HR processes. You take a process-oriented approach, identify opportunities to make HR smarter and more efficient, and actively contribute to the further digitalisation and automation of HR processes. You will also translate HR data into meaningful management information, helping to strengthen an inclusive, safe and learning-oriented organisational culture.
Who are you?
- You are an experienced HR professional who brings confidence, authenticity and sound judgement. You understand that good HR advice starts with listening. Rather than jumping to conclusions, you take the time to understand what is really happening. You are approachable, genuine and able to build trust, even in complex situations. Colleagues see you as knowledgeable, visible and easy to talk to.
- You enjoy working in an organisation that is continuously evolving. You enjoy building, improving and professionalising HR. You take ownership and approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset. You combine strategic insight with a practical approach and enjoy improving processes and driving sustainable change.
- You enjoy working in an organisation where people think critically, different perspectives are valued and decisions are made collaboratively. We are looking for someone who combines strong HR expertise with the ability to connect naturally with people and support colleagues with empathy and genuine care.
- You bring a solid HR foundation, with a bachelor's or master's degree and several years of experience as a Senior HR Advisor, HR Business Partner or in a similar role. You are comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, have up-to-date knowledge of Dutch employment law, and are confident working with HR systems and people data. Because you will work with colleagues and external partners in the Netherlands and internationally, you communicate well, both verbally and in writing, in Dutch and English. Experience in an international organisation is considered a strong advantage.
What makes you successful?
You bring structure and clarity without becoming bureaucratic and thrive in an environment where dialogue, reflection and collaboration are central. You are positive, flexible, curious and solution-oriented. You take initiative, demonstrate ownership and enjoy working with colleagues to further professionalise HR and realise lasting improvements. Your authenticity, calm approach and genuine interest in others enable you to build lasting relationships. Colleagues value your judgement and see you as a trusted advisor.
What do we offer?
Working at Mama Cash means becoming part of an organisation where trust, flexibility and social impact go hand in hand. You will have the freedom to shape your role and contribute to the continued development of both our organisation and our people.
In addition, we offer:
- A contract for 32–36 hours per week;
- A salary in Scale 11 of the Dutch Social Work Collective Labour Agreement (CAO Sociaal Werk), ranging from €4,215 to €7,017 gross per month based on full-time employment (the maximum salary will increase to €7,164 as of 1 October 2026);
- An Individual Choice Budget (IKB) of 17.05%;
- An excellent pension scheme through Zwitserleven;
- Flexible and hybrid working arrangements, including the possibility to work 36 hours across four days;
- An international, committed and inclusive working environment where initiative and professional development are encouraged;
- Plenty of room to grow professionally while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
